What is a disability? It is a physical or mental condition that limits a person’s movements, senses, or activities. But do you believe that people with disabilities could make the world change? Well yes, they can and they are doing it. Today, we’re going to tell you about Kajal Sharma who is disabled. She is 40 years old and has Cerebral Palsy since childhood. She is a state and national award winner, who has also acted for a TV show, ‘Mayavi Malling’ on Star Bharat. Kajal also has a keen interest in singing.

In 2015-16, the Government of NCT of Delhi presented Kajal Sharma with a State award for working towards making provision of accessible toilets for women with disabilities in Indian cities and ensuring that religious places, transportation systems and buildings are accessible for persons with disabilities and senior citizens.

She is a national award holder and was congratulated by the President and the Vice President of India for her work towards disability advocacy for inclusive banking, inclusive healthcare facilities, and for making public spaces accessible on 3rd December 2019.

As a person with a handicap, Kajal feels that the barriers to equal participation in society for people with disabilities are not only medical, but also societal and physical, which are created by people in the society itself. One of the main reasons she has taken on the job of sensitising the populace is because of this. She has been ensuring that persons with disabilities and senior citizens We have to get the opportunity to live a dignified and happy life like others .Not only this, but Kajal has also won court cases fighting for the rights of persons with disabilities for having access to banking facilities and health insurance services . It was difficult for Kajal, who had never attended a regular school, but she had the fortitude to seek special education from special schools and is now succeeding future along with those who need help in whatever ways possible.
