But who is Tulsi Gowda? How he is an environmentalist and what he has done are some of the questions that may come to our minds after he received the award in Delhi. So, here is the story of Tulsi Gowda and all you need to know about it. Tulsi Gowda, an Indian environmentalist, lives in Honali village in Ankola taluk, Karnataka. He has planted more than 30,000 saplings and also takes care of forest department nurseries in the state of Karnataka. Tulsi Gowda is considered as an encyclopedia of the forest because of his vast knowledge of plants and herbs, although he did not receive any formal education in his entire life. He is a 72-year-old environmentalist who belongs to Halakki, one of the indigenous tribes settling in North Karnataka.
